Trump and GOP Aim to End Daylight Saving Time

President-elect Donald Trump recently announced his plans to eliminate daylight saving time once he takes office. He shared this intention on TruthSocial, stating that while daylight saving time has some supporters, it's inconvenient and costly for the nation. Two of Trump's advisors, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, also support ending time changes. However, Trump's son, Donald Jr. , disagrees and wants daylight saving time to be permanent. This clash of views reflects the divide in the Senate, where a 2022 bill aimed to make daylight saving time permanent failed to pass the House. Trump's nomination of Senator Marco Rubio for Secretary of State adds another layer to the debate. Daylight saving time was initially introduced in 1918 to save energy during World War I, but some states like Hawaii and parts of Arizona don't participate in it.
