Former U. S. President Donald Trump's crypto platform got off to a rocky start on Tuesday. Only three percent of the digital tokens put up for sale were bought, despite being priced at just 1. 5 cents each. Trump, along with his sons and other entrepreneurs, launched World Liberty Financial in September. The platform offers 20 billion tokens valued at $300 million in total. These tokens can be used as cryptocurrencies and give buyers a say in the platform's operations.
Tech issues seemed to be the main culprit behind the low sales. World Liberty Financial's website experienced downtime earlier in the day. The platform aims to allow users to lend or borrow cryptocurrencies from each other, a service provided by many other platforms, including the well-known Aave.
Trump's stance on cryptocurrencies has done a 180-degree turn since his presidency. He once called them a scam but now presents himself as a "pro-bitcoin president" if re-elected in November.
