Trump has launched a major campaign targeting the discrimination of Christians within federal agencies, and this time, it manifests as an executive order which forms a team for that purpose. This task force is tasked with investigating "anti-Christian bias" in government institutions. He promised that this task force will be headed by Pam Bondi. This order was delivered to a large fan-fare at the National Prayer Breakfast. Donald Trump claims “If we don’t have religious liberty, then we don’t have a free nation. ” The revelation of this task force comes with a backstory. Brian Bondi may oversee the prosecution of crimes perceived as religious attacks. Trump has a track record of showing favor for Christian conservatives. This order is part of a larger U. S - Israel collaboration in the past week. There was a visit to Washington by Israel's leader, Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu met with Trump’s pastor, Paula White and other evangelical leaders at home. John Hagee, a prominent evangelical leader in Christian Zionists, was also present at this meeting. Other attendees included Mike Huckabee, Trump’s appointee for ambassador to Israel. This group calls themselves evangelical Christians. All thanks to the strong ties between Christians and the country of Israel. Trump has even been known to have controversial positions against the Israelis, especially towards the Palestinians. The evangelical power is now taking action. Many evangelicalssupport Israel's decision to take ownership of Gaza. The newly formed task force is aimed to tackle various agencies. There is a concern among various activists that many federal agencies have been hostile towards Christians. These include the FBI, the IRS is godifying to the president as the new order targets federal agencies and sets of alarm flags. There is critics that view this as a scheme to promote Christianity while harming religious minorities. Rachel Laser, the director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, lashed out at Trump. She stated, “If Trump really cared about religious freedom and putting and end to religious persecution, he’d be addressing antisemitism in his inner circle. The taskforce is not a response to Christian persecution, it’s an attempt to make America into an ultra-conservative Christian Nationalist nation. ”. This is a bold political move that has surprised many.
