Trump’s New Order: Easier Firings for Some Federal Workers?

Former President Trump brought back an old plan to make it simpler to fire federal employees who shape policies. He wants to take away their civil service protections and says it will make the government workforce more accountable. This isn't the first time Trump has tried this. He did it in 2020, but President Biden stopped it. Now, Trump says he needs to do this because some federal workers don't follow their leaders' orders.
Federal unions aren't happy about this. They say changing career jobs to political ones is against the law. They think professional federal workers should be hired based on their skills, not their political beliefs. Some lawmakers are also against this, and they want to protect these workers' jobs with a new law.
Experts say it's not clear if Trump's plan will actually happen. They think it will take a lot of work and might not change much. They also warn that trying to make the civil service political isn't a good way to improve the government.
