Trump's Push to Curb DEIA

USA, WashingtonWed Feb 05 2025
President Donald Trump didn't waste time once in office. His first move on day one? Cracking down on DEI. No more DEI in federal agencies. Trump believed that the system was being overwhelmed by these programs and that it was long overdue for a shake up. DEI was blamed for the decline in test scores across the nation. This isn't just about math and reading, it's about the decline in standards and the rise of new ideas. The National Assessment of Educational Progress noted some alarming figures. Kids are struggling in school today. Fourth-grade math scores fell by 18 points, while eighth-grade scores plummeted by 27 points. This is huge. And reading? Reading scores were down by two points for both fourth and eighth graders. Worse, one-third of eighth graders weren't able to meet basic reading standards. This issue was clear to everyone except the people in charge until then. Kids falling behind in grade? We can blame DEI. Parents Defending Education dug up some numbers. Over $1 billion were allocated to schools by the Biden administration for DEI initiatives including race-based hiring and activism. They even tried to altering Title IX to be more inclusive. Title IX is all about keeping discrimination out of sports and education. This goes beyond that. By defining gender in only two ways, Trump was trying to take things into control. Biden's attempt to add inclusion towards gender ideology didn't sit well with states. Trump wasn't stopping there. He wanted DEI out-- completely. His plan included several executive orders on top of that. First was to tackle the gender issue. Gender was only male or female. Trump's move to stop federal agencies from using DEI in their grant-making and financial decisions was a big move. Public change starts from the top. This includes removing DEI schedule in schools to ensure the money stays. Schools teaching gender ideology is a no-go according to Trump. Students fall behind and schools resort to older standards. Keep this in mind. Ultimately, Trump's actions found DEI to be a hindrance to our education system. DEI could not be condensed to simple issues. DEI has to go. Trump's sidesteps and fast-pace actions in DEI have never been seen before. Several DEI staff in federal agencies were axed, especially several people who advocated for DEI programs. there are two major DEI initiatives in our military. Trump wanted this stopped. Transgender individuals were banned from military service.
