Trump's Remarkable Return to the White House

Washington, USAWed Nov 13 2024
Donald Trump is coming back to the White House for a meeting with President Joe Biden. This is his first visit since he left in a huff after losing the election to Biden in 2020. Back then, Trump didn't even go to Biden's inauguration, making him the first president to skip his successor's swearing-in since 1869. But now, things are different. Trump just won a big election, and he's feeling confident. He'll be sitting down with Biden, just a few feet away from where he watched the January 6, 2021, riot happen on TV. Biden might not be thrilled about seeing Trump again. He once said he'd like to "smack" Trump, and he wasn't happy about the expensive golf simulator Trump left behind in the White House. But Biden knows it's important to show a peaceful transition of power, so he'll be polite. He even had a friendly phone call with Trump after his win. Trump didn't treat Biden the same way when they switched places. He never called Biden to congratulate him or invite him for lunch. He left Washington before Biden's inauguration and only a few hundred people showed up to see him off. But now, Trump is back, and he'll see some changes in the Oval Office. The portrait of Andrew Jackson is gone, replaced by ones of leaders with different views. There's even a new TV behind the Resolute Desk. Biden wants to talk to Trump about supporting Ukraine, something Trump has doubts about. It'll be interesting to see what comes out of this meeting, as Trump has been difficult to pin down in the past.
