Trump's Slipping Grades: What Voters Really Think
USAFri Oct 24 2025
Voters are not happy with how President Donald Trump is handling key issues, according to a recent survey. The economy, a big promise during his campaign, is where he's seeing the most disapproval. Only 38% of voters approve of his economic handling, while 57% disapprove. This is the lowest rating he's had since he took office in 2017.
It's not just the economy where Trump is struggling. His handling of the military and the Russia-Ukraine war also received low marks. Only 43% approve of his military management, and just 36% approve of his approach to the Russia-Ukraine war. Meanwhile, his approval rating for the Israel-Hamas conflict saw a significant jump to 47%, following his announcement of a peace agreement.
The survey also looked at who voters blame for the government shutdown. 45% blame Republicans, while 39% blame Democrats. Interestingly, 11% think both parties are equally responsible.
The poll, conducted by Quinnipiac University, surveyed 1, 327 registered voters between October 16 and 20. The margin of error is plus or minus 3. 5 percentage points.
Overall, Trump's approval rating stands at 40%, with 54% disapproving of his performance. These numbers suggest that voters are concerned about his handling of major issues and the government shutdown.
