Trump's Sneaky Plan: How He's Trying to Control Women's Choices

USA, WashingtonWed Feb 05 2025
In the middle of the night, President Donald Trump made a dramatic move. He dismantled the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, or EEOC. This commission has been a quiet key player in deciding pregnancy accommodations, anti-discrimination laws, and a bunch of other federal rights. This might not seem like a big deal, but it is. The EEOC was in charge of the Pregnant Women's Fairness Act. This act protects pregnant women, new moms and anyone with medical conditions. It also stops employers from shoving women on leave or retaliating because they have asked to get these accommodations. Trump and his new followers are basically getting rid of women's rights even when it comes to reproductive health. He is trying to make it so no woman can have an abortion. In a land where women and men have been fighting for equal rights, they will soon have to fight for it again as Trump has decided to take it away. Trump is ignoring what he promised during the election by removing the EEOC. He is trying to make it so that women have to choose between their jobs and having a baby. Let's not forget who is likely to be the most affected? Women in lower wage jobs such as waitresses, nurses, and grocery workers. Fighting this will be impossible as Trump has already proven himself to be against women. He has made moves to ban funding for aid organizations that provide abortion services and reduce federal employees back into full-time, back in offices. Before we know it women will not have the choice to engage in different things that have helped them feel equal to males in the workplace. If you ask what we should think about this? Well it feels like a slap in the face. However, the administration is not done yet. They are trying to strip away access to reproductive health care services. This is all a sly move, but women can make preparationbecause the only way to withstand this is to be ready for the loss of rights.

questions

What societal change implements the notion of having a woman's legal work protection eliminated by the White House when choosing access to or recovery from an abortion?
To which extent does the pragmatic solution of women needing support through exceptions to the EEOC help them gain access to quality medical care?
To create laws around how reproductive medical care should be handled in workplaces for women is just something to burden the courts with a llitigation for decades.
