Trump's Team & Planes on Hold: Today's News
USATue Nov 12 2024
Yesterday brought big news from Trump's camp. He's expected to name Senator Marco Rubio as the new secretary of state. Some people in his group think Rubio doesn't fully support Trump's "America First" idea, but they still trust him. Representative Elise Stefanik from New York could be the next ambassador to the United Nations. She's been really supportive of Israel. Plus, Trump might pick Stephen Miller, who's tough on immigration, as his deputy chief of staff. And don't forget about Representative Lee Zeldin, who's likely to head the Environmental Protection Agency and roll back some rules, and Representative Mike Waltz, who might be Trump's next national security adviser.
Meanwhile, flights to Haiti are on pause after a scary incident. A Spirit Airlines plane was shot at, injuring a flight attendant. Other airlines like JetBlue and American Airlines are also suspending flights due to violence in Haiti. The State Department is urging people not to travel there because of the unrest.
Back in Idaho, four women are sharing their stories in court about having to travel out of state for abortions. They're suing Idaho because they think the state's laws violate their rights. One woman, Rebecca Vincen-Brown, had to travel seven hours to end a nonviable pregnancy. She said the experience was very tough.
