Trump's Tech Stock Moves Before Medal Awards
Trump bought up to one point six million dollars of Nvidia shares and later sold about one million dollars worth in August. The purchases were disclosed in a filing that became public this week. The timing raises questions because the awards came shortly after.
He also reported an investment of up to five million dollars in SpaceX debt around the same time. The debt stake is structured as a loan that could convert to equity later. Analysts note the size is modest compared to his other holdings.
On Thursday he handed the National Medal of Science to Nvidia chief Jensen Huang and SpaceX chief Elon Musk. The ceremony took place at the White House and was attended by several lawmakers. Both CEOs thanked the president for the recognition.
Earlier in August he added up to twenty five million dollars in Meta stock and more SpaceX debt to his portfolio. The Meta buy adds to a growing tech portfolio that includes several other big names. Critics say the pattern looks like a conflict of interest.
