Trump's Town Hall Women's Reaction Goes Viral
Tampa, Florida, USA,Thu Oct 17 2024
A short clip of women reacting to Donald Trump's comments about January 6 at a Univision town hall has become a big hit online. During the town hall, which was held just weeks before the presidential election, Trump faced questions from undecided Hispanic voters. One voter, Ramiro González, a construction worker with Cuban heritage, questioned Trump about his actions and inactions during the January 6 Capitol attack.
Trump responded by saying that the people who came to Washington on that day did so because they believed the election was rigged. He also mentioned that "action was taken, strong action," regarding the attack. However, it was when Trump seemed to contradict himself by saying, "Ashli Babbitt was killed, nobody was killed," that the women in the audience showed their disapproval. They were seen with crossed arms, and one of them even widened her eyes in disbelief.
Ashli Babbitt, an unarmed protester, was shot by a Capitol Police officer during the attack. Trump has previously stated that she was the only person who died that day, despite reports linking at least four other deaths to the events.
González himself also showed his disagreement with Trump's statement that January 6 was "a day of love. " His reaction was captured on video as he furrowed his brow and shook his head.
Even before Trump began speaking, some audience members showed their disapproval. While most applauded when he entered the venue, several people did not clap.
