Trump's Truth Plus: A New Streaming Option in Mexico and Canada
USAWed Apr 09 2025
Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG) has been on a rollercoaster ride this year. Its stock price has taken a hit, dropping over 50 percent. Yet, the company is not letting that stop its plans to grow. TMTG is the parent company of Truth Social, a social media platform with a niche audience. Truth Social has a small user base, with only about 646, 000 daily visits. This means it's not bringing in much money. In fact, for the year ending December 31, TMTG reported just $3. 6 million in sales, with only about $200, 000 in actual billings.
TMTG has been trying to find new ways to make money. One of its latest moves is expanding its streaming service, Truth Plus. This service is designed to be a "safe haven" from what TMTG calls "big tech" and "woke" content. Truth Plus offers features like a 14-day electronic program guide, catch-up TV, and video on demand. It's available through the Truth Social app and a dedicated content delivery network.
The big news is that Truth Plus is now available in Mexico and Canada. This move is part of TMTG's strategy to reach a wider audience. The Truth+ mobile app can now be downloaded in both countries from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Plus, it's available on various connected TV platforms like Roku, Apple TV, Android TV, and Amazon Fire TV.
TMTG's CEO, Devin Nunes, sees this expansion as a way to offer an alternative to what he calls "monotonous news channels" and "woke TV shows and movies. " However, it's important to note that Truth Plus is still a new player in the streaming market. It will face stiff competition from established services like Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+. Whether it can carve out a significant market share remains to be seen.
One thing is clear: TMTG is not afraid to take risks. The company is betting that there's an audience out there looking for a different kind of streaming experience. Only time will tell if that bet pays off. But for now, users in Mexico and Canada have a new option to consider.
