Trump's Unconventional Ideas: Greenland and the Panama Canal

President-elect Donald J. Trump sparked interest in a recent news conference by suggesting that the U. S. might use military or economic pressure to persuade Panama and Denmark to give up control of the Panama Canal and Greenland, respectively. Built over a century ago by Americans, the Panama Canal and Denmark's Greenland are strategic locations that Trump sees as potential U. S. territories.
In the same news conference, Trump repeated a threat he had made earlier about the Middle East. He warned that if hostages held by Hamas were not released by his inauguration, chaos would ensue in the region. This wasn't the only topic he touched on. He also discussed various issues, including the 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal, oil drilling, his legal cases, and the size of his election victory.
Trump's approach to these topics was casual and didn't offer much detail. He shared his thoughts freely, mixing personal grievances with policy ideas. His willingness to consider using force or economic coercion for territorial acquisitions is certainly a unique tactic.
