The newest surveys show that many people in the United States are not convinced about artificial intelligence. Even though a lot of folks use AI tools, they still doubt the technology’s power and safety.
A study from December found that only about a third of adults use an AI program at least once each week. The trend is strongest among the youngest generation, yet even these users are cautious about what AI can truly do. When asked if they trust the technology, just five percent said “a lot. ” Trust is especially low in areas that touch everyday life. In finance only nineteen percent feel confident, and healthcare sees a trust score of twenty‑three percent.
The same research also highlights worries about the future. More than three‑quarters of respondents believe that AI could pose a danger to humanity. While younger people show slightly more optimism than older ones, overall skepticism remains high.
Despite these doubts, companies are moving forward. Meta recently signed a long‑term partnership with AMD to speed up its AI projects, and earlier it agreed to use millions of Nvidia chips for the same purpose. Meanwhile, a new version of Anthropic’s Claude language model was announced as capable of updating old COBOL systems, which caused IBM’s shares to drop by thirteen percent before rebounding in early trade.
These events feed into the public conversation about AI’s role in society. A February poll revealed that sixty‑eight percent of Americans have little faith in AI, and only a quarter use it on a regular basis. The mix of excitement and anxiety continues to shape how people view the rapid rise of artificial intelligence.
