Turkish Airlines Speeds Up Boarding with Facial Recognition
Boston, Miami, USASun Nov 24 2024
Turkish Airlines is testing a new way to make boarding faster. They're using facial recognition technology at airports in Boston and Miami, in the United States. This tech can cut boarding time by half! The airline plans to expand this to other destinations, like Istanbul and Seoul.
How does it work? Passengers just stand in front of a special machine. It scans their face and checks it against passport data. This is quicker than manual checks by gate agents.
SITA, a company that provides tech for airports, developed this system. They say it's really accurate and fast. It's already used in Miami for international arrivals, speeding up processing by up to 80%!
But is this tech only for boarding? No, it can also help with check-ins. Taipei Taoyuan International Airport is updating its systems to use SITA's tech for international flight check-ins.
