Turtles and Hedgehogs: Two Big Movies Coming in 2028

Two big movie franchises are heading to theaters in 2028. Paramount Pictures has announced release dates for new films featuring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Sonic the Hedgehog. The studio has scheduled an untitled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie for November 17, 2028. This will be the first live-action film featuring the turtle brothers since 2016's "Out of the Shadows. " The last TMNT movie was an animated film called "Mutant Mayhem, " which came out in 2023. A sequel to that movie, "Mutant Mayhem 2, " is set to hit theaters on September 17, 2027. Paramount has also announced an untitled Sonic Universe Event Film for December 22, 2028. This movie is separate from the upcoming "Sonic the Hedgehog 4, " which is scheduled for March 19, 2027. The Sonic movies have been a big success for Paramount, with the first three films grossing over $1 billion worldwide. The studio is keeping details about both movies under wraps. However, it's known that Neal H. Moritz, the producer behind the successful Sonic trilogy, is also involved in the new Ninja Turtles adventure. In other news, Paramount has announced plans to bring "Top Gun" back to the big screen on May 13, 2026, in honor of its 40th anniversary. The original "Top Gun, " starring Tom Cruise, was released in 1986 and became the highest-grossing film of that year.
