A Wisconsin school shooting took the lives of two extraordinary individuals. Rubi Patricia Vergara, a freshman with a passion for art and music, and Erin Michelle West, a beloved substitute teacher. They were killed in a tragic incident at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison. Vergara, just 14, was known for her artistic talent and love for animals. She played keyboard and sang in her family band, leaving behind a legacy of creativity. West, on the other hand, was 42 and hailed from DeForest. She had been a substitute teacher for three years before becoming the school’s substitute coordinator. Her kindness and care for her students left a lasting impact on those who knew her. Even hours before the shooting, students like Mackynzie Wilson could see how deeply West loved her students. The shooting left six others injured, two of whom remained hospitalized. A somber atmosphere lingered at the school, where fear and trauma built up among the students. A funeral service for Vergara was scheduled for Saturday in Madison.
