U. S. and India Talk Trade and More

The U. S. Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, recently met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They talked about important things like trade, defense, and technology. They also discussed how both countries need certain minerals that are really important. Gor mentioned that President Trump thinks highly of Modi. He called Modi a great friend of Trump's. This was Gor's first speech in India after being confirmed as the U. S. Ambassador. Gor also met with India's Foreign Minister and National Security Advisor. He is visiting India from October 9 to October 14 to meet more officials. There are some big tariffs on Indian goods going to the U. S. These tariffs were increased because India keeps buying oil from Russia. This affects about $50 billion worth of Indian exports, especially in areas like textiles, gems, and shrimp. Both Trump and Modi talked on the phone recently. They said they made good progress in trade talks and will stay in touch.
