U. S. and Ukraine Talk Peace: A Step Forward?
Geneva, SwitzerlandMon Nov 24 2025
In Geneva, a significant meeting took place between U. S. officials and Ukrainian representatives. Marco Rubio, the U. S. Secretary of State, shared that progress was made in discussions about a proposed U. S. plan to stop the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Rubio mentioned that this meeting was one of the most productive so far. He said that it was a meaningful step in the peace process. He also noted that the discussions have been ongoing since January.
Andriy Yermak, the Chief of Staff for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, also had positive things to say. He called the meeting a productive first session. Yermak mentioned that another meeting would happen later that day. He also said that they would work on joint proposals with European partners.
Yermak thanked the United States and President Donald Trump for their efforts to bring peace. This is interesting because Zelenskiy had earlier thanked Trump for U. S. support. This comes after Trump said that Ukraine's leaders had not shown gratitude for U. S. assistance.
The talks in Geneva are still continuing. It's unclear what the next steps will be, but both sides seem hopeful.
