UAE Health Workers: Sleep & Spirituality Shield Against Burnout

United Arab EmiratesMon Oct 05 2026

The UAE is seeing a rise in burnout among its medical staff. A recent survey gathered responses from 661 health workers across the country. Researchers wanted to see how rest patterns, spiritual health, and job satisfaction connect.

Workers who reported poor rest and irregular daily rhythms tended to feel more exhausted. Those who said they felt spiritually grounded reported lower exhaustion levels. Spiritual health also showed a strong link to feeling fulfilled at work.

Scientists used correlation and regression tools to sort out the data. They found that regular sleep schedules and strong spiritual well‑being were independent predictors of both burnout risk and job satisfaction. In other words, each factor helped explain the outcomes on its own.

The results suggest that hospitals and clinics should focus on improving sleep habits and supporting employees’ spiritual lives. Simple changes like better shift planning and access to mindfulness resources could lower burnout and lift morale. Targeted programs based on these findings may lead to healthier, happier staff.
