UCLA Climbs to Fifth in Coaches Poll

CaliforniaMon Nov 02 2026

The college football coaches have new rankings this week. Miami holds the number one spot. Georgia is second. Indiana is third. Utah is fourth. UCLA moved up to fifth. This happened after the Bruins beat Nevada.

UCLA won 27 to 0 on Saturday. The defense was very strong. Nevada could not move the ball at all. But the offense did not look great. It seemed like a backup quarterback was running the show. Ty Dieffenbach could not get things going. The offense had a hard time for most of the game.

Voters still liked UCLA enough to move it up. Last week, UCLA received a first place vote. This week, it did not get one. Even without that top vote, UCLA moved ahead of Ohio State and Notre Dame. In the Big Ten conference, Indiana sits at number three. UCLA is at number five. Ohio State is tenth. USC is seventeenth. Iowa is twentieth. Northwestern is twenty-third. Oregon, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Minnesota also got votes.

USC beat Ohio State recently. That result means every Big Ten team except UCLA has a conference loss. This opens the door for a conference championship game. Bob Chesney coaches the Bruins. UCLA still has four games left. On November seventh, they travel to Minnesota. On November thirteenth, they host Illinois. On November twenty-first, they play at Michigan. On November twenty-eighth, they face USC.
