Former STX Entertainment co-founding President, Sophie Watts, has joined the board of UK animation firm Two Daughters Entertainment. This move aims to help the company expand into the U. S. market. Founded in 2016 by James Reatchlous, Two Daughters Entertainment has seen significant success with its first IP, Moley, which started as a half-hour special and now airs in 180 countries in 30 languages, including on Peacock in the U. S. The firm's feature slate includes "The Land of Sometimes," starring Ewan McGregor, Mel Brooks, and Helena Bonham Carter. This movie is set to release late in 2025 and is directed by a team of industry veterans.
The appointment was announced at the Two Daughters Entertainment Gala event held at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Hollywood. Watts expressed her enthusiasm for helping the company grow in Hollywood, noting the firm's unique and heartwarming backstory, exceptional storytelling, and stellar voice talent, which she believes will lead to a bright future. Simon Bobin, the CEO of Two Daughters Entertainment, welcomed Watts to the board, highlighting her pioneering role in the entertainment industry and her respected business leadership. He believes her guidance will be crucial in steering the company to new heights, especially during their upcoming growth phase in the U. S. Watts played a key role in building STX Entertainment into a significant independent studio before resigning in 2018, just before the company faced challenges. Two Daughters Entertainment is represented in the U. S. by Zero Gravity Management.
