Ukraine Pushes Back on Musk's Starlink Claim

Ukraine is pushing back against a claim by SpaceX chief Elon Musk. The claim says the Ukrainian military broke the rules of the Starlink service. Officials in Kyiv say that is not possible.

Serhii Beskrestnov, a defense adviser to President Zelenskyy, says the civilian Starlink has speed limits. The speed is capped at 70 to 90 km/h inside Ukraine. The service does not work in Russia. He says these limits make deep strikes impossible.

Musk admitted that SpaceX slowed down Starlink in Ukraine. He said using the civilian service for offensive strikes is not allowed. He claimed the Ukrainian military misused the service. Musk added that the U.S. government controls the military version, Starshield. Trump said he did not order the change, and Vance suggested White House coordination.

The restrictions on Starshield worried Ukrainian commanders. They reported lost drones and failed missions. The situation increased tension between Kyiv and Washington. The U.S. is trying to end the war. Russia agreed to join talks with Washington and Kyiv next month. A local ceasefire was arranged around Oleshky. Zelenskyy said Russia launched about 2,300 drones in a week. He asked Western allies to speed up interceptor deliveries.
