Ukraine Seeks $20 Billion Boost to Sustain War Effort
Kyiv, UkraineFri Jun 12 2026
Ukraine plans to ask its partners for an extra $20 billion in military help at a meeting next week.
The request will come during the Ukraine Defense Contact Group session, where more than 50 countries coordinate aid for Kyiv.
The country believes it has a six‑to nine month window on the battlefield that needs quick funding.
Russian attacks have slowed this year, with the front line pausing last month.
Ukrainian drones have hit Russian supplies and logistics, while long‑range strikes target the enemy’s energy sector.
Russian leader Putin said forces keep moving forward daily and that Russia’s economy faces no danger, though he admitted Ukrainian strikes cause damage.
Each ally will be asked to contribute between $2 and $6 billion, either as aid or a loan, to hit the $20 billion goal.
The plan was first reported by Politico.
