Ukraine's Defense Grapples with U. S. Aid Uncertainty
UkraineWed Jul 02 2025
Ukraine is in a tough spot right now. They're not sure if the U. S. will keep sending military aid. The Defense Ministry says they haven't gotten any official word about changes. So, they're just going with what they know and checking each delivery as it comes.
This isn't the first time the U. S. has paused aid. Back in March, it was all about Trump pushing Ukraine to talk to Russia. Now, it's about the Pentagon worrying they're running low on supplies. The guy in charge, Elbridge Colby, has never been a fan of sending weapons to Ukraine.
What's being held back? Important stuff like PAC-3 missiles for Patriot systems, precision artillery rounds, and Hellfire missiles for F-16s and drones. Ukraine says they need this stuff to keep things stable and predictable, especially for air defense.
Meanwhile, Russia is on the move. They're advancing and hitting cities far from the front lines with more air strikes. NATO's boss, Mark Rutte, gets why the U. S. wants to keep their own stockpiles safe. But he also says Ukraine can't do without all the help they can get right now.
So, what's next? Ukraine is waiting and watching. They need that aid to keep up the fight. But with the U. S. holding back, it's anyone's guess what happens next.
