Ukraine's War: Who's to Blame?
Thu Feb 20 2025
Ukraine has been in a tough spot since 2014, when Russia started causing trouble in the eastern part of the country. This conflict has been going on for years, with Russia making moves to control more of Ukraine's territory. In 2022, things got even worse when Russia launched a full-scale invasion, claiming it was to protect Russian-speaking people and prevent Ukraine from joining NATO. But the truth is, Russia has been trying to keep Ukraine under its control for a long time.
A lot of people are confused about who started the war. Some people, like former U. S. President Donald Trump, have said that Ukraine should have never started it. But the facts show that Russia has been the one causing problems from the start. In 2014, Russia took control of the Crimean Peninsula and started fighting in the eastern part of Ukraine. This conflict has been going on for years, with thousands of people losing their lives.
Ukraine's President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has been in office since 2019. He was elected to a five-year term, but because of the war, elections have been postponed. This has led some people to question his leadership and support. However, recent polls show that Zelenskyy still has a high level of public trust, with about 57% of people supporting him.
The war has taken a huge toll on Ukraine. Many people have been forced to leave their homes and become refugees. The country is also dealing with a lot of destruction and loss of life. However, the number of deaths is not as high as some people have claimed. While exact figures are unknown, it is estimated that over 46, 000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed since the start of the full-scale war in February 2022. It is also estimated that tens of thousands of civilians have been killed in occupied areas of Ukraine.
The war in Ukraine is a complex issue, with many different factors at play. It is important to look at the facts and not just listen to what people say. The truth is that Russia has been the one causing problems in Ukraine for years, and the war has taken a huge toll on the country and its people.
