UNC football is shaking things up. They just let go of their offensive and special teams coordinators. This comes after a rough season where the team only won 4 out of 12 games. Coach Bill Belichick, who joined the team last year, made the announcement.
The team's offense was struggling. They were near the bottom in the ACC and the whole country. Their quarterback, Gio Lopez, had the fewest passing yards in the league. Special teams also had issues. They allowed fake plays that cost them games against Duke and NC State.
There were some bright spots, though. Kicker Rece Verhoff had a great year. He made 19 out of 23 field goals, including a school-record 57-yarder.
Both coaches had contracts. Kitchens was set to make $1. 2 million, and Priefer was making $400, 000. Even though they're leaving, they'll still get paid for the rest of their contracts.
This is a big move for UNC. They're hoping these changes will help them improve next season.
