Take Aglianico grape pomace, for instance. This study dived into three types of Aglianico pomace from different regions: Cantine del Notaio, Barile, and Torrecuso. Researchers tried out five green extraction methods: soaking, digestion, rapid solvent extraction, microwaves, and ultrasound, all using a mix of ethanol and water.
The results? Digestion and rapid solvent extraction pulled out the most antioxidants and special metabolites. These extracts were then analyzed using advanced techniques to identify both known and unknown compounds with health benefits. Plus, tests on liver cells showed that the Barile grape pomace extract had the strongest effect against cell growth. So, this work shines a light on the potential of Barile grape pomace extract as a rich source of health-boosting molecules.
