US Passport to Show Trump’s Face for 250‑Year Celebration

The U. S. State Department is preparing a small batch of special passports for the country’s 250th birthday. The new design will include a portrait of President Donald Trump, making him the first living president ever to appear on a U. S. passport. The idea has been in discussion for months and was approved late Monday. Around 25, 000 to 30, 000 copies will be ready at the Washington, D. C. , office just before July 4. People who apply in person there will receive the commemorative passport by default. If they prefer a regular one, they can still order it online or at another location. Trump’s picture will sit on the inside cover, next to a gold stamp of his signature. The front cover will read “United States of America” in bold gold, with “Passport” below—a slight twist on the usual layout. A small gold flag will appear at the back, showing the number 250 surrounded by stars.The move follows other attempts to honor Trump with his name or likeness on public items. Plans exist to add his signature to new U. S. paper money and a gold coin that will mark the anniversary. Current passports feature four presidents on Mount Rushmore: Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt and Lincoln. They also show the Statue of Liberty, the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, and quotes from Martin Luther King Jr. and other leaders. Trump’s inclusion in the passport is part of a broader strategy to increase his visibility. His name has already been added to buildings like the U. S. Institute of Peace and the Kennedy Center, and he has proposed new projects for the White House and Washington’s entrance. The State Department says the commemorative passport will keep all standard security features. It is a way to celebrate the nation’s milestone while spotlighting Trump’s legacy.
