Using AI to Boost Learning in PE Class

Sun Dec 29 2024
Ever wondered how AI can make physical education more effective? Well, a recent study used deep learning algorithms to help teachers understand their students' learning better. They used convolutional neural networks to find patterns in teaching images. And get this, they even created a neurocognitive model to track students' learning over time. The cool thing is, this model could predict how well students understood sports concepts. When tested with 90, 000 samples, the accuracy hit 84%. And the cognitive diagnostic model wasn't too shabby either, with accuracies of 76%, 77%, and 75% across three datasets. This tech saw a 29% boost in students' understanding of sports concepts. And the cognitive schema diagnostic model's predictive accuracy ranged from 60% to 100%, averaging 81%. So, what's the big deal? This AI model can pinpoint what students understand and where they need help. That means teachers can tailor lessons to each student's needs. Pretty neat, huh?

questions

If the AI system predicts a student’s cognitive state as ' Confused', should we just give them a puzzle to solve instead of their PE class?
Will the system be able to teach students how to dance like they’re in a viral TikTok challenge?
In what ways can the insights from this study be applied to improve other educational fields beyond physical education?
