This is interesting because the NIH had cut a lot of funding before. But Utah Health still got a lot of support. The money from NIH is not just about research. It also helps create jobs and boosts the economy in Utah. Over 45, 000 jobs and nearly $785 million in economic activity come from this funding. Other places, like the CDC, EPA, and Department of Defense, also gave money. Industry partners and other groups added more, making the total funding reach new heights. Dr. Rachel Hess said that the university submitted a lot of research proposals. They asked for $2. 3 billion in 2025, which is a lot more than before. This shows that they are really committed to research. Health sciences research has been growing a lot. It has increased by 24% in the past five years and more than doubled since 2014. This shows that Utah Health is doing important work.
