Utah is in for a quick snow burst on Thursday morning. The National Weather Service has warned of winter weather advisories for the state's mountains and northern valleys. This comes after a year that has seen very little snow.
Meteorologist Hayden Mahan from the Salt Lake City office predicts 6 to 12 inches of snow for the northern mountains. Central and southern mountains might get 4 to 8 inches. The northern valleys could see 1 to 4 inches. The snow is expected to fall quickly during the morning rush hour.
This sudden snowfall could make driving tricky, especially in northern Utah. Drivers might not be ready for it, as there haven't been any big storms this year. Even a small snow shower caused accidents on I-15 recently. This shows that people are not yet used to winter driving.
After this storm, Utah is expected to have a break from snow for over a week. So, this might be the last chance to enjoy some winter fun before a warmer spell.
