You know how important vaccines are, right? Especially when it comes to deadly diseases like measles and Japanese encephalitis. A recent study in Ranchi, India, looked at how well kids aged 2-5 were getting their measles and Japanese encephalitis vaccines. They checked 604 kids and found that most got their first shots, but not as many got the second ones. For example, 98. 3% of kids got the first measles shot, but only 88. 7% got the second. It was similar for the Japanese encephalitis vaccine. The study also found that some kids missed their shots because their parents didn't know enough about the vaccines or were worried about side effects. Other reasons included kids not being available at vaccination times. Religion and the dad's education level also played a role. Researchers talked to healthcare providers to understand their perspective. They found that parents' fears and kids not being available were big reasons for missed shots. So, while it's great that many kids are getting their first shots, there's still work to be done to make sure all kids get both doses on time.
