Ventnor's Main Street Gets a Major Upgrade

Ventnor, a town on the Jersey Shore, is set to receive a significant boost with a $960, 000 grant from the state. This funding will go towards improving Dorset Avenue, a key commercial area that welcomes visitors to the city. The project will cover a stretch from the Dorset Avenue Bridge to Monmouth Avenue and from Calvert Avenue to Balfour Avenue. The plan includes a variety of upgrades. New street lights will be installed to improve visibility and safety. Sidewalks will be made more accessible, complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. Benches and bike racks will be added for the convenience of pedestrians and cyclists. Traffic markings will also be updated to enhance road safety.In addition to these practical improvements, the city will be adding some green elements. Trees, ornamental grasses, and perennials will be planted to beautify the area. Tree grates and decking will also be installed to protect the new plantings and provide a neat finish. The project will also involve some infrastructure work. Site clearance will be done to prepare the area for the new installations. New curbs, gutters, and driveway aprons will be put in place. Traffic control features like bumper stops and flexible bollards will be added to manage vehicle movement and ensure safety. This makeover is not just about aesthetics.
