Ventura County Braces for More Rain and Potential Floods

Ventura County, USASat Nov 15 2025
Ventura County faced a serious situation as a storm brought heavy rain and the risk of flash floods. The National Weather Service issued a warning early on November 15th, alerting residents in the southern parts of the county to be ready for intense downpours. The storm was expected to bring a lot of rain, possibly even more than the previous one that had already hit the area. Meteorologists predicted the heaviest rain would fall overnight and continue into Saturday afternoon. The storm was moving slowly, which meant it could drop a lot of rain in a short time, leading to dangerous conditions like flooded roads and mudslides. By Friday afternoon, some areas had already received a significant amount of rain. For example, a spot near Matilija Canyon had gotten nearly 4 inches, while other places had much less. The forecast warned of even more rain, with coastal and valley areas expected to get 2 to 3 more inches, and higher elevations possibly seeing 4 to 6 inches. Because of the recent wildfires, some areas were at a higher risk of flash floods and debris flows. Authorities issued evacuation warnings for parts of the Mountain Fire burn area and other communities prone to flooding. These warnings were a precaution, not an immediate order to leave, but residents were advised to be ready just in case. The rain was expected to ease up by Saturday night, but showers could last into Sunday. More rain was also possible on Monday and Thursday, though these storms were not expected to be as strong. Residents were urged to stay informed and follow the advice of local authorities to stay safe during this stormy period.
