Violence at Home: What's Happening to Indigenous Women in Brazil?

Did you know that in Brazil, most violence against indigenous women happens right at home? Let's talk about what's been going on in Dourados. From 2009 to 2020, researchers looked at cases reported in the Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN). The results? A whopping 56. 6% of these cases were caused by the women's intimate partners. This isn't just about physical fights – 93. 3% of cases involved physical attacks, and mental abuse wasn't far behind at 27%. Indigenous women with partners and those who faced repeated violence were more at risk. Shockingly, all this mostly took place in their own homes.Why does this matter?
