With respiratory illnesses on the rise, Corewell Health has put new visitor rules in place at its Southeast Michigan hospitals. From now on, only two visitors can be with a patient during the day, and just one at night. These rules started on January 10, 2025, and affect several hospitals like Corewell Health Beaumont Grosse Pointe and Corewell Health Dearborn. The restrictions are for pediatric patients, birthing mothers, and babies in special care units. Expectant mothers can have one birthing partner and one extra guest.
To stop these illnesses from spreading, Corewell Health suggests some simple steps: stay home if you're sick, wash your hands often, and get vaccinated against flu, whooping cough, RSV, and COVID-19. Detroit Medical Center has also made changes to visitor rules because of more flu cases.
