Washington DC's Makeover: Trump's Plans for His Second Term

Washington, D.C., USAFri Jan 17 2025
As President-elect Donald Trump gears up for his second term, he's set his sights on revamping Washington DC. He's not happy with the state of the capital and wants to make some big changes. One of the main issues he's focused on is crime. In 2023, it spiked in DC, and Trump isn't having it. He thinks the federal government should take control and bring some order back to the city. Trump's got some ideas for sprucing up the place too. He wants to clean up graffiti, fix the roads, and make sure federal buildings and monuments are in tip-top shape. He's even met with DC Mayor Muriel Bowser to talk about these plans. Bowser seems to be on board, as she's been working on balancing the budget and bringing down crime rates. Another big change Trump wants to make is getting federal workers back into the office. With remote work still going strong since the COVID-19 pandemic, downtown DC has been hurting. Trump thinks bringing workers back will help the local economy. The city's even got a plan to turn empty offices into something new with their Office to Anything initiative. But not everyone's thrilled about Trump's plans. Some of his allies are talking about a big intervention in DC's activities. And while Mayor Bowser will be at Trump's inauguration, many DC council members won't be. It's going to be an interesting four years for sure.
