Get ready for some beach action! A cold front from the Gulf of Alaska is heading our way, bringing light rain on Friday. But hold on, because the real story is what's happening at the beach. A long period of westerly to northwesterly swells is on its way, affecting the entire Northern California coast. Expect this to last until early next week. Nicole Sarment, a meteorologist from the National Weather Service, says we might see a beach hazard warning or a high-surf advisory. So, beachgoers, be careful! Don't turn your back on the ocean, and think twice before swimming.
The weather will be warm, with temperatures reaching the low 60s in the South Bay and high 50s in the East Bay. Overnight lows will also rise into the 40s, a nice change from the recent cold spell. The rain on Friday won't be heavy. Most places in the East Bay will get no more than a quarter-inch, with some high elevation areas seeing up to half an inch. The South Bay will also see no more than a quarter-inch. The North Bay might get between a quarter-inch and half-inch. So, while the rain might not be a big deal, it's a good idea to skip the picnic and enjoy the beach with caution.
