Get ready, folks! The weather is about to take a chilly turn. A Winter Weather Advisory is in place until Wednesday afternoon for Ashtabula and Lake Counties. Expect some light lake-effect snow and bone-chilling wind chills throughout the day. The snow will taper off in the afternoon, making way for a few sunny breaks.
Thursday brings another round of snow, starting before dawn and lasting through the afternoon. We're looking at about 2-4 inches, with higher amounts possible by evening.
Friday offers a brief reprieve from the cold, with temperatures in the mid-30s. But don't get too comfortable, because Saturday brings a mix of rain and snow. Temperatures will stay above freezing, but another cold front is on its way for Sunday.
Brace yourselves for the coldest air of the season by late weekend and early next week. The lowest wind chills are expected overnight and early morning on Monday, Tuesday, and possibly Wednesday.
Looking ahead, there's an active storm track from the southwest between January 21-27. This could bring more snow our way. Also, Lake Erie's ice coverage is expected to rise to 50-70% by month's end.
This January is different from the past 15 years. Typically, we get cold snaps in the first two weeks, followed by breaks. But this year, the cold seems to be sticking around.
