Weekend Rain: Not a Total Washout

Bay Area, USAThu Oct 23 2025

The Bay Area has been experiencing a rollercoaster of weather patterns lately, with warm, sunny days giving way to rain and vice versa. A weather system from the south began bringing moisture early Wednesday, marking yet another shift in the month's unpredictable weather.

Light Rain Expected, No Complete Washout

The upcoming rain is not expected to be a complete downpour for the entire weekend. A meteorologist noted that while some rain is anticipated, it won't be a total washout. Wednesday's rain was light and didn't reach far, bringing some hail and lightning to Monterey County but not much rain overall.

Dry Wednesday for East Bay and Peninsula

The East Bay and Peninsula will remain dry on Wednesday. Rain is expected to start Friday night and continue into Saturday. This rain is coming from a weak atmospheric river and won't be as intense as the last storm. It's also shifting north, so areas like Yreka might receive more rain than the Bay Area.

Reduced Rainfall Expectations

Initially, forecasters thought the Bay Area would get over an inch of rain, but now they expect only a quarter to a half-inch. Additionally, no rain is expected south of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Uncertainty for Sunday

There might be another round of rain on Sunday, but it's still uncertain. Meteorologists are keeping an eye on how it develops. While the weather might not be perfect, it's not all doom and gloom either.
