A video from someone close to the shooter may soon be shown in court. They’ve moved out of state and aren’t facing any charges themselves. The shooting happened in front of a huge crowd at a university in Utah last September. The victim was a 31-year-old podcaster who traveled the country giving speeches. Authorities believe the accused shooter planned the attack carefully. They found DNA from the shooter on the gun and some items used during the crime. Prosecutors also claim the shooter left a note saying they wanted to end the victim’s life because of their views.Now, the accused person’s lawyers are trying to change how the case moves forward. They asked a judge to keep some parts of the next hearing private. They also accused prosecutors of speaking to the media too much, which they say could unfairly influence people who might later serve on a jury.
