What We Don't Know About the New Nintendo Switch
Seoul, South KoreaWed Jan 22 2025
After years of guessing and leaks, we finally got a peek at the new Nintendo Switch last week. But even with this reveal, there's still a lot we don't know about the next-gen console. Let's dive into the biggest questions and concerns, and try to figure out what we can expect.
When will it launch? The trailer mentioned "2025, " which is a pretty wide window. But let's narrow it down. Nintendo has a Direct video presentation planned for April 2, where they promised a "closer look" at the Switch 2. It wouldn't make sense for this event to happen after the console's launch, so a release before April seems unlikely.
Nintendo is also planning hands-on experiences for consumers around the world. The latest event is scheduled for May 31 through June 1 in Seoul, South Korea. It wouldn't make sense to have these events if the console was already in stores. So, a release before June seems unlikely, too.
Nintendo's past home consoles, like the GameCube, all launched in November. So, don't be surprised if the new Switch also hits stores during the holiday sales window at the end of 2025.
There's a lot to consider when it comes to the new Nintendo Switch. We'll have to wait and see how Nintendo reveals more details in the coming months.
