It's September 28, and Saturday Night Live (SNL) has returned for its 50th season. As the presidential election heats up, the show starts with a bang – literally. In their first sketch, SNL sets the stage for the upcoming political showdown, introducing some familiar faces on the campaign trail. Maya Rudolph, a former cast member, reprises her role as Vice President Kamala Harris, who has been part of the ticket since 2019. Comedian Jim Gaffigan makes his debut on SNL as Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Harris's running mate. Gaffigan brings his signature wit, cracking jokes and trying to be the life of the party. "What can I say? I got that BDE – big dad energy," he quips. Trying to be hip, he adds, "See what I did there? You get it? "
Harris, played by Rudolph, is not impressed. "I got it, I didn't want it, but I got it," she replies wryly. Andy Samberg, another SNL alum, joins the duo as Doug Emhoff, the Vice President's husband. These well-known SNL faces bring a lighthearted touch to the show, making the sketch an entertaining watch.
