Wheelhouse Picks Up Anomaly Entertainment

Wheelhouse, a company known for creating media that spotlights athletes and entertainers, has just added Anomaly Entertainment to its roster. The deal brings a studio that specializes in exciting reality shows and scripted series into Wheelhouse’s mix.
Anomaly was founded in 2017 by Matthew Kelly and Michael Sorensen, who previously worked as commissioners on the Discovery Channel. Since then, they have produced more than 40 episodes of Shark Week shows, including titles like “Shaq Does Shark Week” and “Great White Abyss. ” Their work has appeared on a wide range of networks, from TLC and HGTV to Netflix and HBO Max.
The studio is also behind new projects that go beyond sharks. They are filming “KPop Shark Heroes, ” starring Ken Jeong and Rei Ami, and have a slate that includes comedy, mystery, and sports‑focused series such as “Rob Riggle: Global Investigator” and “Battle of the Beards. ”
Wheelhouse’s CEO, Brent Montgomery, praised the founders for their success on both sides of the industry. He said the partnership fits well with Wheelhouse’s culture and will add new strengths to its ecosystem.
Kelly and Sorensen welcomed the move, noting that Wheelhouse shares their goal of telling authentic stories about today’s top creators and athletes. They expect to grow Anomaly’s reach across more platforms while giving their clients stronger support.
During their time at Discovery, the duo produced popular shows like “Gold Rush” and “Amish Mafia. ” They also helped launch series such as “Through the Wormhole” with Morgan Freeman and “Bering Sea Gold. ” Currently, Anomaly is working on new series for Discovery, TLC, HGTV, and Food Network.
Wheelhouse already has a history of producing hit shows for Netflix, A&E, and other networks. Adding Anomaly expands its catalog and reinforces its commitment to dynamic, talent‑driven content.
