Did you know that drinking coffee in the morning could be better for your heart? A recent study found that having two to three cups in the morning was linked to lower death rates. Interestingly, the same benefit wasn’t seen when people drank coffee throughout the day. The research, led by Tulane University, looked at over 40, 000 adults for nine years. They found that morning coffee drinkers had a lower risk of dying from any cause and from cardiovascular diseases. Scientists think this is because morning coffee aligns with our body’s internal clock, called the circadian rhythm.
A dietitian, Michelle Routhenstein, explained that drinking coffee later in the day might mean relying on caffeine instead of eating properly. This could harm your heart over time. Coffee has a substance called chlorogenic acid, which has anti-inflammatory properties and can help with blood vessel health. Dr. Bradley Serwer, a cardiologist, agreed that more studies are needed to prove these benefits fully. He also noted that people should talk to their doctors if they have concerns about their coffee habits.
