South Carolina, USAFri Jan 03 2025
Donovan Murph, a star wide receiver from Irmo, South Carolina, has decided to commit to the University of South Carolina. This decision was announced during the Under Armour All-America game. Murph, a four-star prospect, chose the Gamecocks over other top schools like Clemson, Colorado, Ole Miss, and Tennessee. He felt a strong connection with the coaching staff, saying, "Everybody shows me love. It feels like home. "
Murph was initially part of the 2026 class but moved to the 2025 class. He took official visits to South Carolina and Clemson before making his choice. Although not listed as a finalist, Alabama was also heavily involved in his recruitment process.
First-year receivers coach Mike Furrey played a significant role in recruiting Murph. Murph praised Furrey, saying, "He’s a great coach but also a great person. He talks to me about more than just football. "
Murph is ranked as the No. 291 overall prospect and the No. 44 wide receiver in the 2025 class. He is the seventh prospect from South Carolina in his class. He will join five other highly-rated wide receivers in the Gamecocks' 2025 class.
In his junior season, Murph had an impressive performance with 96 catches for 1, 328 yards and 12 touchdowns.
