Doom: The Dark Ages, a highlight of Microsoft's Xbox Developer Direct 2025, has finally revealed its release date and some exclusive details. Mark your calendars for May 15, 2025. You'll be able to dive into the action on Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Oh, and if you're a Game Pass fan, you're in for a treat because Doom: The Dark Ages will be available on day one.
Now, you might be wondering why there's no mention of the Nintendo Switch 2 yet. Well, rumors are that Microsoft is planning to bring many of its games to the new console later in 2025. So, Switch users, don't lose hope just yet!
Here's a fun twist: Doom: The Dark Ages is going solo this time. Unlike its predecessors, 2016's Doom and 2020's Doom Eternal, which had online multiplayer, this game is single-player campaign only. Why the change? The game's team wanted to go all out on the campaign. By ditching multiplayer, they could add some awesome features like riding fire-breathing dragons and piloting giant mechs called Atlans.
Executive producer Marty Stratton and game director Hugo Martin explained that this decision let them focus fully on making the campaign as epic as possible. They're really happy with the result and think players will love it too.
IGN has more scoop on Doom: The Dark Ages, including info on the game's composer. For all the details, check out what was announced during Microsoft's Xbox Developer Direct 2025.
