Why the Gemini XRP Card is a Big Meh
Cryptocurrency has come a long way. From its early days as a secretive tool for shady deals to now being a massive industry with big investments and even bigger scams. But with all the hype, one has to wonder: are we really making progress or just going in circles?
Credit Cards Linked to Crypto Exchanges
Credit cards linked to crypto exchanges have been around for a while. Sure, credit cards can be useful, especially when interest rates were low. But is it really groundbreaking for a crypto exchange to team up with Visa or Mastercard? Not really.
Enter the Gemini Credit Card – XRP Edition
At first glance, it looks just like any other Gemini card. The only differences? It's blue and has "XRP" written on it. That's it. No extra rewards, no special features, nothing. Just a different color and a logo.
Gemini even admits this on their website. They say the card works the same as their other cards, but with a new design for XRP fans. Why would anyone want to show loyalty to a cryptocurrency that hasn't lived up to its promises? XRP was supposed to revolutionize bank settlements, but it never did. So, why the loyalty?
Security Concerns
This card is also a big no-no when it comes to personal security. It basically screams, "Hey, I have a crypto account at Gemini and I own XRP! " With crypto-related crimes on the rise, this is like painting a target on your back.
