Wildfire Threats Near Canyon, Evacuations Ordered

A big wildfire is moving fast in Randall County. The blaze could reach places like Canyon, Umbarger, Happy and Palo Duro Canyon. Firefighters say it is moving east‑northeast at 3 to 5 mph. Emergency officials asked people near Cemetery Road, Circle J Road and the River Falls Airport to leave. They should bring medicine, documents, pets and other essentials. A shelter is at the Cole Community Center in Canyon for those who need it.Roads are closed because of the fire. Texas Highway 168, I‑27 and US 87 are shut down in some spots. Drivers should avoid these routes to help the crews work safely. The fire is still dangerous after storms that started it on Thursday. Smoke and clouds rise from the flames. Fire crews are fighting hot spots while checking how much damage has happened. Other areas in Texas Panhandle also have fires. The state is watching many blazes and will give more updates soon.
